{Married} Mel & Tom

Four years ago I met a couple, Mel & Tom, at one of my oldest friend’s wedding in Devon. Three years ago they booked me for their wedding, giving Mel time to finish her Doctorate! I was over the moon – they are such a lovely couple and we have become good friends over the years 🙂 But I cannot believe where those years have gone… and all that planning paid off. On Saturday 1st July, Mel & Tom were finally married, and WOW what a wedding!

Mel got ready for her day at Mount Folly Farm in Bigbury-on-Sea, with the most amazing views across Bantham to Burgh Island. I could have spent hours watching the day pass over those views.

A little bus ride later with all the ceremony guests, we arrived in the amazingly quirky Glazebrook House – with drums on the wall, aeroplanes in the toilets, and magnifying glasses that look into images of Alice in Wonderland inside the walls, it was an absolute treasure trove! Again, I wanted a good few hours mooching over it all to find what else was hidden there. Very very cool!

Mel’s brother walked her down the aisle and gave her away to Tom. There were tears, laughter and silliness – it was beautiful!!

After canapés and mingling, most of us were back on the buses experiencing the Devonshire roads to the fullest (I have a new found respect for those who learn to drive there!!). The bride and groom, plus the bridal party and their families arrived at Bigbury Bay for some group photos – I can certainly see why it’s a hot holiday spot in this country, ooof!

After some fun on the beach, we headed back up to Folly Farm where the marquee was ready and waiting for the rest of the day’s festivities. There was a mega BBQ served before the speeches, a ceilidh that got most people off their bums to dance their legs off (a lot of fun!!), which led into the couple’s very lovely first dance (it was clear when we first met that they knew their way about a dance floor!).

Mel and Tom, it was an absolute pleasure capturing these memories for you, thank you so much for having me there as your photographer 🙂
